Andrew Clurman Named President and Chief Operating Officer of Active Interest Media
El Segundo, CA (April 12, 2010) -- Active Interest Media (AIM, www.aimmedia.com) today announced that Andrew Clurman has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer. He was previously Group Publisher and Chief Operating Officer.

"Andy has been instrumental in building AIM from an idea to an integrated enterprise that now comprises 30 magazines, 21 web sites, 20 major events, and dozens of books and videos, all produced each year by 300 employees at eight major locations," says Efrem "Skip" Zimbalist III, AIM's Chairman and Chief Executive. "And this has all been accomplished since AIM was founded just seven years ago in 2003. He is one of the elite executives in the media business, and richly deserves this promotion."

AIM's 30 special interest magazines include such award-winning titles as Yoga Journal, Backpacker, American Cowboy, Log Home Living, Vegetarian Times, Yachts International, and Black Belt. The company produces a dozen log home shows and seminars as well as four weeklong Yoga conferences around the country. AIM also operates Show Management in Ft. Lauderdale and produces major in-water boat shows in Florida, including the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, the largest boat show in the world. In addition to its own brands, AIM custom publishes magazines for a number of leading US companies including The Vitamin Shoppe, Vail Resorts, and Krogers.

Prior to joining AIM, Clurman was Senior Vice President of Time4Media, a division of Time Warner/AOL, serving as President and Publisher of Mountain Sports Media, the world's leading winter sports media company, which included SKI, Skiing, Freeze, Skiing Trade News Magazines, Warren Miller Films & Entertainment, and Mountain Sports Press, and President and Publisher of TransWorld Publications, which included Transworld Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Motocross, Surf, BMX, and Ride Magazines. Under his leadership, these two divisions grew to comprise fifteen consumer and trade magazines, an award-winning film and television production unit, and category leading Internet, book, video/DVD publishing, and event marketing businesses.

Clurman's 25-year career in publishing began at The Vineyard Gazette newspaper. He later joined Ziff Davis where he was a sales representative, regional sales manager, marketing director and finally, publisher of SKI and Skiing Magazines. He is a graduate of Rutgers College and holds an MBA from the University of Colorado.

He serves as a board member of the Independent Magazine Publishers of America and the Boulder Valley Hockey Association and lives in Boulder, Colorado, with his wife, Claire, and three children.
